When the St. Helena-based winery first approached designthis!, they had a limited amount of brand collateral at the time — a logo, a Cabernet and Chardonnay bottle design and temporary stationery. As Fantesca was continuing to grow and offering more products and services, they understood they needed a design company to guide, define and expand their brand and visual communications with a focused vision, while personifying their original inspiration — “Sexy, Smart, and Unpretentious”.
Since Fantesca’s name and inspiration came from a female character (of the old Italian comedy troupe that inspired Cirque Du Soleil), we wanted to keep and introduce graphic elements with qualities that connect with those origins. In addition to playfully using the diamond pattern, the curvy, feminine swirls act as an extension of the logo’s type style while adding graphic detail. Reinforcing their main colors of red and black (along with gold accents and rustic, cream textures) keeps their color palette elegant yet flexible. After the main elements are decided, we consistently and steadily applied the vision through Fantesca’s print, packaging and email design applications.
Year after year, Fantesca constantly receives compliments on their wine packaging from their customers, and their club members let them know they proudly showcase their wine boxes in their cellars. The result is a unique, creative and cohesive brand that communicates and reflects the winery’s essence and style through their wine labels and bottles, wine boxes, corporate stationery and email marketing.
